A beautiful and very scenic hike to the old George Dam in the mountains. This is more or less a 17 km hike with some very slippery areas.
You start at Saasveld and hike towards Tierkop. There are two options to hike to Tierkop, around the mountain to the right or up the track towards the left. I recommend turning right, stunning views and gorgeous fynbos. Enjoy a snack at Tierkop before continuing, you will need the break after some serious steep ascents. Remember to hike up the mountain at Tierkop on a sunny day and enjoy the view towards the Gardenroute dam.
From Tierkop you take the single track towards the old dam. From the dam your can take an easy walk on a track back to Saasveld.
